Myongji Hospital to hold dementia forum on Sept. 9

Myongji Hospital will hold an online seminar, MJ Dementia Forum and Academy, on Sep. 9. (Myongji)

Myongji Hospital said it would hold the MJ Dementia Forum on Sep. 9 to evaluate the present and future of cognitive interventional treatment to overcome dementia in collaboration with Gyeonggi Province.

Cognitive intervention treatment is a non-pharmacological dementia therapy approach that treats patients with cognitive training, art therapy, social activities, and exercise, instead of drug therapy, with brain-waking activities, according to the hospital.

MJ Dementia Forum, jointly hosted by Myongji Hospital’s Dementia Support Center and Gyeonggi Province Dementia Center, will discuss the present and future of advanced cognitive interventions, such as computerized cognitive intervention programs, robots, mobile apps, and AI voice-based technologies, it said.

As non-contact services are expanding across the society due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the forum and academy will introduce the knowledge and know-how of experts on the development and spread of computerized cognitive intervention programs using the latest tools and technologies.

The hospital said it expects that the forum and academy will serve as an opportunity to listen directly from and communicate with experts on the development status and practical use of digital therapeutics.

Professor Song Hoo-rim will preside over the MJ Dementia Forum, held online through the video conferencing platform Zoom, from 2:00 p.m. Professor Song is the director of Myongji Hospital’s Dementia Support Center and Gyeonggi Province Dementia Center, the hospital said.

The forum will offer presentations under various titles, including “Experience and Future Prospect of Computerized Cognitive Intervention Program Development” by Best Heals Hospital Director Kang Sung-min, “Experience and Future Prospect of Mobile App Development for the Prevention of Dementia in Middle-aged Adults” by Silvia Health CEO Koh Myong-jin, and “The Development Experience and Future Prospects of AI voice-based Cognitive Intervention” by EmoCog CEO Lee Jun-yung.

Participation in the MJ Dementia Forum is free, and only those who apply in advance will receive the online access address. The deadline for application is Sep. 8.

“As the world undergoes a rapid digital transformation, active changes are taking place in the field of dementia,” Director Song said. “The hospital hopes that the forum and academy will provide an opportunity for participants to think about the present and future of cognitive intervention together with specialists in various fields and respond to changes.”
