Myongji Hospital to use AI quarantine equipment of Shanghai Cue
Myongji Hospital said that Shanghai Cue, a Chinese AI and big data firm, donated its thermal imaging device called the “CUE EReal time AI Facial and Body,” to the hospital on Friday.
The hospital plans to use the equipment in proactively blocking the influx of Covid-19 infections into the hospitals. The device is a system that simultaneously uses recognition and infrared body temperature software and makes it possible to measure body temperature accurately of even those wearing a face mask and can measure the body temperature of up to 20 people simultaneously.
If the device detects a fever above the proper temperature, it immediately emits an alarm on the screen. Also, the device allows the hospital to record, store and check records of those who might have made close contacts with the patient, the hospital said.
"It is meaningful that we provide CUE's AI prevention equipment to Myongji Hospital, which is one of Korea's representative Covid-19 treatment fighters," Shanghai Cue CEO Shi Kan said. "With this opportunity, I hope to expand cooperation with Myongji Hospital in the field of medical AI and big data."
Myongji Hospital Chairman Lee Wang-jun also said, "It is both ironic and meaningful that we received the donation of a quarantine system from a Chinese company and use it to combat against Covid-19."
The hospital hopes that this cooperation will develop into a close partnership between Myongji Hospital, which has been pursuing the convergence of IT and healthcare for the past 10 years, and Shanghai Cue, a leading AI and big data company, Lee added.
